I Registered for OMyBoard. Now What?
Part 1 - Introduction
Often I have registered for a new service or installed a new app on my phone or laptop and are left staring at a screen and thinking to myself "cool...now what?". As a software developer, it is easy to forget that what is obvious to me (mostly because I wrote it) is not always obvious to someone new to the software.
Building an intuitive interface is not as easy as it seems, and props to those services and apps that make the experience "intuitive" - a new users just "knows" what to do next. Sometimes these services and apps mask this initial complexity with "wizards" to guide you through the setup process or short "tutorials" highlighting some icons or menu options that identify the next actions that need to be taken and where to click to get started.
Now you are asking yourself, "What does this have to do with volunteer boards?". OMyBoard is no different - the initial setup of a board can seem a bit daunting after you have completed the registration. But don't worry. Here is a short series that will help to guide you through setting up your board, inviting other board members (after all, what good is a service if nobody is there to use it), setting up meetings and some advanced topics like subscriptions and committees.
